The thread as ritual

The shirorekha — the line above the letter — binds separate marks into a single word.

Sūtra. The literal thread that becomes texture, and the aphorism that becomes meaning.

Redrawn each dawn and erased gradually through the day. An ephemeral ritual, here fixed as an enduring mark. Move it. Read it from every side.
Laid down at dawn to welcome Lakshmi, and to honour Bhudevi — the earth it is drawn upon. A door held open to fortune.
It is drawn at the crossing of inside and outside. To wear it is to become a threshold others are welcomed through.
Rice flour also feeds ants and birds. The welcome is generous, never transactional.
Discipline through repetition. The same line, drawn again at dawn, is a quiet act of devotion.
A grid of dots, a single looping line. Order and freedom held in one gesture.
The four aims a life pursues, mapped to four directions, four regions, four ancient threads. The collection mirrors the symbol: four points, one centre.

The warmth of joyful thresholds.
Phulkari — 'flower-work' — is bridal floss embroidery made by women for the joyful crossings of a life. We edit the riot into a single bloom climbing from the hem, so it reads as warmth, not festival costume.
Not a political map. A cultural one. Every piece is traced back to the cluster and the karigars who carried the craft — named, credited, paid.

Provenance. Every garment is traced to its cluster. Karigars are named on the hangtag, credited in the archive, and paid fairly for hand-work that machines cannot imitate. The story is honoured at its source — or it is not the story.
